VW Passat vs Toyota Camry: Roomy Dimensions

Having a spacious interior provides a lot of convenience and utility. You can pack ample cargo while also offering your passengers a large amount of room to relax in. The VW Passat and the Toyota Camry both set out to deliver a comfortable and convenient driving experience with their cabins.

Inside the Toyota Camry L trim, you’ll find a cargo volume of 14.1 cubic feet. This space offers drivers a comfortable amount of space to store luggage on a long drive. However, this is beaten by the VW Passat, which boasts an impressive cargo volume of 15.9 cubic feet.

As for passengers, the Camry features a standard passenger volume of 100.4 cubic feet. This is topped by the VW Passat once again, which provides 102 cubic feet of passenger volume.

If that wasn’t enough for you, the Volkswagen Passat also tops the Toyota Camry when it comes to legroom and headroom measurements. For example, the front headroom in the VW Passat is 38.3 inches, but only 37.5 inches on the Camry XSE V6 with a moonroof. When it comes to the front legroom, the VW Passat soars as high as 42.4 inches, while the front legroom in the Camry XSE V6 dips as low as 42.1 inches. What does that mean for you? It means you can enjoy a roomier, more comfortable ride in the VW Passat.

VW Passat vs Toyota Camry: Packed with Personality

VW Passat HeadlightsDrivers looking at the VW Passat and the Toyota Camry will enjoy the sporty personality these sedans provide. Small design elements, such as LED headlights, give each vehicle a look that stands out on the road.

In order to provide the VW Passat with even more personality, this sedan has been designed with a Coming/Leaving Home feature. This technology feature leaves the exterior lights of your vehicle on for a brief period to provide you with light when walking to your doorstep. These lights not only offer a fun look, but they also provide safety even outside of the vehicle. The Toyota Camry doesn’t have a comparable feature.

VW Passat vs Toyota Camry: Exterior Design

Feeling great on the road isn’t just about comfort. It’s also about pure style, and the VW Passat and Toyota Camry have plenty to offer here. The Toyota Camry features a unique front grille that reaches all the way to the bottom of the bumper. Sharp angles give the Camry a noticeable stance on the road.

With the VW Passat, a confident yet stately grille dominates the front bumper, providing a mature style. In addition, drivers who choose the R-Line trim will be treated to unique badging and an R-Line front bumper.

VW Passat vs Toyota Camry: High-Tech Safety

VW Passat SafetyWhen it comes to driving, however, there’s nothing as important as keeping yourself, your friends, and your family members safe—not to mention other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians you encounter on the road. Thankfully, the VW Passat was built for safety.

For starters, the Volkswagen Passat is constructed on a rigid safety cage. This safety cage is designed to push crash force away from every passenger in the cabin, while the front and rear crumple zones absorb crash energy.

Next up, it comes with Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS). ICRS immediately takes a variety of actions should you experience a collision powerful enough to deploy the airbags: it turns off the fuel pump, unlock the car doors, and turn on the hazard lights. The Toyota Camry doesn’t have this exact system, but it does have an automatic engine shut off function.

State-of-the-art VW safety technologies—such as Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, Electronic Stability Control, and more—work in tandem to prevent or mitigate an accident in the VW Passat.

Finally, advanced driver-assistive systems will have your back while you’re behind the wheel of the VW Passat: Front Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, available Park Assist, and available Park Distance Control are just the beginning.

To be fair, the Camry’s Toyota Safety SenseÔ P provides drivers with great safety features. It even comes with some comparable systems, such as Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. This safety feature is similar to the available Lane Assist that you’ll find in the Volkswagen Passat.
