VW Beetle vs Mini Cooper

Beetle vs. Mini Cooper

In the automotive world, it’s pretty easy to manufacturer a powerful engine, a quality sound system, or a high-tech active safety feature. However, it’s not that easy to manufacture an iconic sense of cool. And that’s exactly what the VW Beetle and the Mini Cooper bring to the table: a whole lot of cool.

So, if you live in Avon, Indianapolis, or Plainfield, Indiana, and you’re looking to upgrade your car to one of the coolest models to hit the roads this year, just reach out to us at Andy Mohr Volkswagen ASAP.

World-Class Cool: Style and Design VW Beetle red

One of the first things that you’ll notice about the Volkswagen Beetle is that its exterior paintjobs are the stuff of movie stars and celebrities. Regardless of whether you go with Habanero Orange, Pure White, Tornado Red, Platinum Gray Metallic, White Silver, Deep Black, Silk Blue, Bottle Green, or even Sandstorm Yellow (available on the VW Beetle Dune trim), you’re going to pull up to the party in style.

This vehicle is also known for its instantly-recognizable design, which unites the classic and the modern.

In terms of the classic, the VW Beetle relies on the same type of frame that’s been inspiring drivers for decades; in terms of the modern, they’ve added Bi-Xenon Headlights, Sport-Style Bumpers, 17”/18” Alloy Wheels, a Power Tilting/Sliding Panoramic Sunroof, and a Rear Spoiler that’s ready for the track.

While the 2018 Mini Cooper offers its own creative exterior style, we’ve found a few issues with it. First, its frame is generally too boxy, which doesn’t make for an aerodynamic look at all; next, it’s more suited for European roads than for the United States; finally, it lacks the famous Volkswagen symbol (well, duh)!

Exhilarating Performance: VW Beetle vs Mini Cooper

But, just because we decided to start with cool doesn’t mean that we won’t conclude with performance. After all, at the end of the day, you want a car that drives like you live: creatively, on the edge of things.

Newsflash: the VW Beetle is that car! With its turbocharged 2.0L TSI engine, you’ll enjoy up to 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, along with 26 city/33 highway MPG1. According to Kelley Blue Book®, “the Beetle returns a softer ride than the Mini Cooper.”

The engineers over at Mini offer their own version of the Volkswagen 2.0L TSI engine, which they call the Mini TwinPower Turbo Engine. Come take a test drive at Andy Mohr VW and decide for yourself!
