VW ID.4 vs Model Y: Convenience

 Convenience

Since you’ll be spending a lot of time on the road with your electric SUV, you’ll want it to have a comfortable interior with all the features you’ll need to relax and enjoy the ride.

While the coupe-like design of the Model Y might look cool, its smaller rear window reduces your visibility. Since the VW ID.4 is designed like an SUV, you’ll have a nice wide window in the rear providing excellent visibility.

Additionally, both SUVs feature fast charging, or supercharging, capabilities to help you get on the road with a full battery quickly. In the VW ID.4, you’ll have three complementary years of fast charging with Electrify America. However, the Supercharging feature of the Tesla Model Y is pay per use.

Volkswagen ID.4 vs Tesla Model Y: Infotainment Technology

Infotainment Technology

When controlling your infotainment features and accessing important driver information, you’ll want a high-tech and intuitive system working with you. Each vehicle is designed with touchscreen displays that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into the future. Though, one vehicle has more to offer than its counterpart.

The ID.4 offers a few displays to help you navigate and view all your information and apps. You can use the ID.Cockpit and steering wheel controls to check on driver information and alerts. Then, you’ll also have a massive 12-inch touchscreen in the center console to access available wireless App Connect, including Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and MirrorLink®.

The Tesla Model Y limits you to just one touch screen to control all your features. Without the convenience of two displays with dedicated abilities, you might find it difficult to access what you need while on the road. Additionally, the Tesla lacks any kind of smartphone integration technology outside of Bluetooth®.

On the Road

Electric vehicles obviously offer impressive efficiency; however, they also pack a fun performance. Both the VW ID.4 and Tesla Model Y are certain to get you far on each charge without sacrificing fun.

The VW ID.4 comes standard with rear-wheel drive to offer a speedy and sporty performance. Though, there is also an all-wheel drive configuration available. The Tesla Model Y, on the other hand, only offers all-wheel drive which uses up more power.

Even though all-wheel drive is certainly desirable, some drivers may find that they don’t want or need it for all their drives. Having the option to equip it with the VW ID.4 gives you the ability to craft your ideal drive experience, which lacking in the Tesla Model Y.
