Generally, drivers should expect to change their tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles or otherwise every six months. A good way to look at this is to have your tires rotated every time you have your oil changed.

What Happens During a Tire Rotation?

When you take your car in for a tire rotation, your tires will be removed to switch places with the other tires. Typically, a tire rotation will see your front tires moving to the back. Oftentimes, tires will switch sides of the car as well depending on the type of vehicle.

The idea of a tire rotation is to account for your vehicle’s weight in the wear of the tires. This means that in a front-wheel-drive car, you’ll want to move your tires to the back to account for the uneven weight pushed to the front of the car.
